This string of idyllic islands off the Mozambique coast combine your perfect island getaway with exclusive diving.
The Quirimbas Archipelago is a string of 32 tiny islands that lie just off the Mozambican coast. They stretch from Pemba to just south of the Tanzanian border.
From the UK you will fly to either Dar es Salaam or Johannesburg and then onto Pemba. A short flight will then take you to the island of your choice (we will arrange all of the necessary transfers).
With the increase in number of flights from South Africa and Tanzania, these islands are providing an interesting alternative to Mauritius and the Seychelles as an end to a mainland safari.
Only a handful of the islands have been developed for tourism. This has been carefully co-ordinated with the local communities/mozambican government and environment agencies to ensure minimal impact to the islands and the surrounding reefs. The effects have been very positive and this previously poor area is already seeing the benefits of tourism.
The islands vary in size and landscape but all have a remote and romantic atmosphere. Dining is always a highlight of the day and the menu takes advantage of the freshly caught seafood, blended with local ingredients.
Each lodge runs its own dive centre and has access to a variety of sites, usually less than 20 minutes by boat. Exclusive diving is the order of the day and groups are kept small - often less than six divers per boat.
The coral reefs are very healthy, providing a home for some fascinating marine life. Dolphins can be seen all year and during July and November, humpback whales pass through on their annual migration.
At the end of your trip transfer back to Pemba to catch your flight to the UK or maybe extend to South Africa or Tanzania.
