The west coast of Pemba offers exciting wall diving with varied marine life. There are plentiful corals in good condition, lots of fish life and a huge selection of nudibranchs.\r\n
You will be met at Dar es Salaam airport by one of our representatives who will assist you to board the light aircraft to Pemba Island.
Manta Reef Lodge is accessed by road but Fundu Lagoon has to be reached by boat. After the short boat journey you disembark at the lodge"s long and impressive jetty which later in the evening provides a romantic spot for dinner.
Pemba Island is not as well known as Zanzibar but that shouldn"t discourage you. The lack of tourism to the area has left much of the island untouched and the reefs in first class condition. Mesali Island is probably the highlight of the diving and our last trip saw eagle rays, cuttlefish and a school of bump head parrot fish.
The basic economy of the island is cloves and during certain times of the year, as you drive through the villages, you can smell the pleasant aroma of the cloves as they dry on the side of the road.
After your five days of diving and relaxing catch a light aircraft to Zanzibar and spend the night in Stone Town. Explore the narrow streets and venture to the fish markets where they cook freshly caught fish on open fires.
Transfer to Zanzibar airport to catch your flight back to the UK.
